Why F2 Barracuda is a different quad board?

At first glance, it is notable for its short length (between 221 and 223 cm depending on the volume), but what really makes it a very special quad is how fast it goes into  early planning. The problem that most quads have is that to get more grip they have to sacrifice top speed and early planning. In contrast, the F2 barracuda has managed to combine a good grip on the wave with an excellent early planning. It has been designed for European conditions, making it the perfect board for waveriding the kind of waves we have. Also it is notable for how quick it turns and for achieving the speed it at the bottom turns. The rider Kenneth Danielsen (D38) speaks about this fantastic board on the following video.

Extreme Windsurf (IMAX)

Here’s a video clip from the famous National Geographic IMAX film “Extreme”. In it there was some Windsurfing footage with Robby Naish, Bjorn Dunckerberck and Josh Ston in Hawaii. Some of you probably enjoyed them at an IMAX theatre, and most of you probably heard about them. Even though they were filmed a long time ago... they are very impressive.

If you can watch it in a big screen full hd (1080p) with your surround system at full volume.

Jesper Orth (AUS 10) signs up with F2 for 2012

Captura

Slalom racer Jesper Orth (AUS 10) signs up with F2 for 2012: “Before I joined F2, I tested the Slalom boards SX range, to be sure and most importantly that the boards will deliver on the race course. I did not take me long to recognise the potential as the performance was unreal. I tested the SX 135, 111 and 91 and straight away I felt at home with unreal acceleration, top speed and control. I can’t wait to get the 2012 boards here in Australia so I can tune all the gear up for an exciting 2012season. For the waves I ordered some Barracuda Quad boards. Not only do they look amazing but they work great on the waves and after talking to PWA wave sailor and F2 team rider Kenneth Danielsen, which got a 6’th place in Klitmoeller using these boards, I’m convinced to have a „fun & Functional” summer in WA.“

“There is a great feeling of energy infused into F2 over the last years’ time and it is evident that a lot of work has been going into „recover” the brand from their battle to being nearly „out of the game” to get back on track in big style. The new wobber of a F2 workbook with their entire product lines displayed over 111 pages for 2012 is a truly amazing achievement in fairly short time.”

Here is what F2 product manager Daniel Aeberli had to say: “WOW, the next Step is done. Now we look back to the season 2011 and we had an amazing year! And as we look forward to the season 2012, it’s just like dreaming to see how we get back on track more and more. Jesper Orth is just so perfect to expand the f2 family. It is not just about the great competition results he will achieve, it is about his knowledge and true passion.

He will be one of the most important guys in the Racing and R&D team. It is important to me to have people around who I can trust entirely and work with. And Jesper is the man and I am more than happy to give him a big welcome to the F2 team! Lets get it started …

America's Cup AC45 live right now

You can follow right now live the AC45 America's Cup competition at San Diego.

We remind you our friend Fernando Leon is part of the Spanish team Green Comm. This week he had the opportunity to test the boat as helmsman during competition.

About the fins

012

It is difficult for you to go upwind? You can not avoid spin out? Do you want to improve your surf or get more speed? Everyone has his own reasons and choosing the right fin can make the difference between a fantastic board and one you do not like it at all. Generally speaking, slalom fins give us more speed and allow us to go upwind easier. In waves, we have to choose between on-shore and side-shore fins. Also, the size is very important; with a bigger fin we get easily on planning but it is not so good for turns. Smaller fins are better for stong winds and for close turns.

Choco Fins has a wide range of fins for all conditions: slalom, bump and jybe, wave,...come to our shop and choose the right one for you!

Streamlined: carbon extension prototype

A few days ago we received a carbon extension prototype from Streamlined USA. After we got green light from them we publish a few photos… we cannot transmit with them the extreme lightness of the piece. Stop by the shop and check out by yourself.

Cutre Windsurf Center is in conjunction with HT Maui testing center for Streamlined USA equipment. We are the only ones to receive these prototypes for their final testing prior to market launch of the 2012 line of products. As soon as we have conditions we will test this extension to the limit.

  • Secret: The 2012 final model has a surprise which does not appear in the photo, as the manufacturer wants to keep it confidential until de last minute to avoid other brands from copying.
