Eddie would go

On December 1st began the 3 month waiting period for the big wave invitational competition; The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau at Waimea Bay at the North Shore of Oahu, that competition only goes if it’s a full day with 20ft waves (Hawaiian size) or bigger, that’s why the last time they run the contest was in 2004, when Bruce Irons won, riding a huge wave till the shorebreak, where he got barrelled standing tall in a giant close out over inches of water.
Looks like the biggest waves of the last 40 years are reaching Hawaii between today and tomorrow, it’s supposed to be in the range of what they had in 1969, when Greg Noll rode at Makaha what is supposed to be the biggest wave ever ridden.

They’re not running the contest today, but looks like it could happen tomorrow, so if you want to know more about it or watch it live when it happens, click HERE.
