El Faro, morning session
As you can see, waves were nothing special this morning at El Faro, but the day was so nice that we had to go.
Later on, we knew the North Shore of the island had really good waves all morning, maybe that was the reason nobody was surfing with us in the South.
Small but fun
Nothing amazing this morning at El Faro, but some fun small waves with no wind and just four friends on the water, ah! and the light was perfect which was exactly what I was looking for.
I’ll post more photos from the session tonight, but now the day is too good to be at home editing photos.

Update from the Gold Coast
Go out and watch the moon.
"Go out and watch the moon" that was the sentence I could hear on the phone a few minutes ago in a call from my friend Juan Enrique, I don't know if you can see it anywhere else, but at least in Pozo Izquierdo the sky tonight looks absolutely amazing; the photo doesn't show how weird and amazing is.

Richard "El Americano"
Homenaje Richard Atik "El americano" from Javier Fleitas on Vimeo.
Richard "El Americano" was one of the most beloved characters at La Cicer (the main beach in the city of Las Plamas de Gran Canaria), and as you can see in the video, when thousands of people are there to say goodbye, I think you can't say more.Holidays in Gran Canaria
Rasmus, an old friend from Denmark who was living in Pozo Izquierdo, a few years ago, is here on holiday and just sent us these photos from last weekend.

Session at "el Faro"
Is not that often we have the right conditions for a good windsurfing session at the south point of Gran Canaria, "el Faro de Maspalomas"; west wind a good sized WNW swell, but that was exactly what we had today. And despite the forecast said it would rain, we had clear blue sky all day long, I don't know if was raining in the North of the island, but definitely not in the south.
I have to thank Hotel IFA Faro for letting me use their terrace to take some pictures from above and avoid a little bit the backlight we allways have at this spot. I'll post more picutres tomorrow.

Happy birthday!
Today Kelly Slater celebrates his 38th birthday, I have never seen him, so I don't have any pictures of him; the closest to a portait of him I have, is this signed copy of his book "For the love" that Jonas gave me after his travel to NY where he met the man himself.
Ultimate wave Tahiti 3D
Last night was the premiere in L.A. for the IMAX 3D movie with Kelly Slater and Raimana van Bastolaer at Tahiti; for more information: www.ultimatewavetahiti.com
Light and flat, but fun
I don't know if it's because I'm getting old, but I'm having a lot of fun in days like today, with light wind and nearly no waves at all.
In fact, the pictures posted here are not from today, I was feeling so good on the water, that when I realized I still had to take pictures, it was too late, and the detail that my keys were inside the car, and the car was closed, but that's another story.
Truth is, I was not the only one having fun despite the poor conditions (5,3-4,7), looked like everybody was enjoying the session, maybe because the afternoon was splendid (warm and sunny), maybe because it's supposed to be the last day of wind in a few days, or maybe because the modern light wind equipment works much better than the old stuff.

El Faro (2)
Difficult light yesterday afternoon, changing every second, backlight, clouds, sun, calima (sand from the Sahara in the air) and really high colour temperature at the evening, so I had to keep readjusting my settings for nearly every single shot, but now as I watch the pictures I want to go surfing, I think that's a good sign, I wish you enjoy the pictures.
